David Petroni, FOUNDER
Over the past two plus decades, David has held executive leadership positions in finance and corporate development. He has a proven track record in general management, corporate finance, strategy, and business development. Most notably, David was the lead M&A executive on three $1.5B+ enterprise software transactions and has helped drive inorganic (buy-side) strategies for public and private enterprise software companies.
Bishop Peak Advisors was originally founded in 2014 and relaunched in 2023. The firm currently provides fractional CFO and buy/sell-side advisory services. From 2019-2022, David served as the CFO of Utmost Software, Inc. a VC-backed start-up in the SaaS contingent workforce management space. Prior to founding Bishop Peak Advisors in 2014, David was the vice president of global business development at Workday, a leading provider of cloud-based enterprise software, where he oversaw Workday's implementation and technology partner ecosystem as well as all corporate development activities. Before joining Workday, David was the senior vice president of corporate development at Activant Solutions, Inc., which he helped merge and integrate into Epicor Software in 2011. Earlier in his career, David was chief financial officer for Valchemy, Inc. (sold to IBM in 2006); vice president of corporate development at PeopleSoft (where he led its 2003 acquisition of JD Edwards); and vice president of finance and corporate development for OnDisplay, Inc. (which was acquired by Vignette in 2000). He has also held senior business development and finance roles at GE Information Services (subsequently renamed GXS and acquired by OpenText) and National Semiconductor.
David holds an MBA with honors from Georgetown University. He earned undergraduate degrees in political science and agricultural managerial economics from the University of California, Davis.
David also created and taught an MBA-level class entitled Technology M&A for UC Davis's Graduate School of Management and has guest lectured at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and at UC Berkeley.
